Word has got around how unique the experience in our wonderful BergSpa is. The relaxing treatments and pampering programmes in this wellness oasis for the senses are also regarded as absolute highlights by guests at the Hotel Schweizerhof Lenzerheide. We attach great importance to the naturalness of the products. That is why our innovative BergSpa manager, Carina Barblan, together with the equally innovative gardener, Franco Schröttenthaler, decided to produce our own Grisons mountain herb oil. The key to the idea was the support of an employee who spends every summer on the Greek island of Zakynthos. There she maintains close contact with an oil pressing plant that processes the farmers' local olives very gently and sustainably into an excellent oil. Exactly what Carina Barblan was looking for.
High-quality olive oil was thus available as a basic product. Now all that was missing was the Graubünden ingredient: local herbs to give the oil that certain something. Lenzerheide lies at 1473 metres above sea level and has the right climatic conditions. Which herbs are suitable? And where do we plant them? The decision was made in favour of raised beds. As well as being very easy to cultivate, they also conjure up a lot of greenery in the hotel's inner courtyard.
A meeting with gardener Franco Schröttenthaler from Multikraft finally gave the idea a decisive kick. With his expertise and support, the right herbs were planted and strengthened with preparations made from microorganisms that ensure healthy growth. There are no synthetic pesticides in Carina's raised beds. The robust plants thrive and ultimately find their way into an oil that is all the more natural.
