Learning Sustainability Week 2024

The third Sustainability Week on the topic of water took place from Monday 17 June to Friday 21 June 2024. In addition to theory, we visited exciting projects and selected partners during the week.

After a short and informative introductory day on the subject of water, we immediately headed to the Morteratsch Glacier. It was impressive to see how the snow continues to melt and the glacier can soon no longer be called a glacier. We also hiked to the Tamina spring, where 36.5°C warm water flows out of the rock. After an exciting input from the water sommelier at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, we visited the BadRagARTz. The water management on the mountain in Lenzerheide was also a theme day - how is snow actually made and how much water is used. Finally, the apprentices were allowed to go rafting for half a day on the Vorderrhein before the Friday afternoon was rounded off with the parent-learner day and a delicious dinner at the Scalottas Terroir restaurant.

What our apprentices take away from the week:

"We were once again made aware of how important the glaciers are for us and how quickly they are melting." - Silvana, Talya & Shun

"We were given four waters from different sources in Switzerland. Interestingly, you could taste the differences." - Jade & Darren

"However, no longer producing artificial snow would mean that the Lenzerheide ski area would no longer be able to offer the quality of ski slopes that are necessary to maintain tourism." - Lena & Niklas
